What’s different about the new school than other colleges?
I will only say that in addition to a strong university and strong academic programs, it is home to a large number of students. The campus, at 18-square-miles, is the size of about 5,000 typical college campuses.
What is the largest single number of students attending the school?
About 1,000. Other students are at the school on the weekends as well.
Why isn’t that part of normal college life?
It is a small and exclusive private institution. There are not enough students to occupy large buildings and a lot of dorms. The school has its own student newspaper, a history newspaper, and a theater program.
What are the students like?
The student body has an interesting mix of students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. There are more African-Americans than any other group in the university.

There are a growing number of schools like that. This is only one of two such schools in the state, and it has a large student body. More people from outside the city are attending now than a decade ago, and this increases the demand.
Does the student body at the new school have a racial composition?
Many people are not aware of this fact since it does not happen much to most people who attend public colleges here — though some people might not be able to afford it. But the school has a very small African-American population — only about 10 percent.
Are there any scholarships or financial aid?
The number will depend on the size of the school. There are several sources of aid, but it is not open to students with family incomes below $30,000.
