Is skillshare worth the money? – Online Art Lessons For High School Students

One of the biggest myths about Skillshare is that it’s a low cost insurance policy. It isn’t. At the heart of the plan is the idea that if you’re a professional worker and that job goes away or you move to a new area, you have one thing to lose — your health benefits.

This sounds easy enough. You just want what’s best for you and your family, whether that involves a lower premium or a higher benefit.

“I like the idea that we put a $2,500 deductible and I am paying $2,500 of my medical bills while I take care of the rest of the bills,” said Lisa Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich., who is a professional chef and owner of a catering business. “That allows me to spend the money I have that way without worrying about any of that. … We need it, but we don’t know how to buy it, so we’re really going after it.”

There are several layers of benefits to the plan. There are coverage requirements for workers — a low deductible that is also used to help workers save money from health issues — and if a business owner isn’t a member of the policy, they pay out of pocket.

“I have a lot of family members that I really value and that I need to be able to afford medical insurance for, so I’m very much in favor of helping them,” says Susan Schoenwald of Latham, N.Y., who has owned a home building company for more than 23 years. “Our employees are our best asset and a lot of people just don’t understand that.”

And how is it that this plan offers a low deductible for a family of four with two children to cover all their medical care?

“The health-care costs in our region are high,” Smith said. “So the question we ask ourselves is if we have the money and if it’s worth what the bill is right now.”

There are several things people need to know if they’re considering the plan, especially in the case of a spouse or parent.
