It is a common misconception that it takes time to learn to draw. This is not true, as all beginner artists should be able to draw within one minute of starting. We do not know the exact speed to use to learn, and that is a part of drawing that we must take into account. It may take you longer to learn to draw the line, but it will probably take longer to learn to draw the shape because you will have to practice the shapes before drawing the line.
How long does it take to learn to paint?
The actual time it takes to learn to paint depends greatly on what you are trying to achieve by practicing. For example, if you want to be able to draw the lines where they would go, or be able to draw the shapes where they would go, it takes a long time. If you want to be able to write your name in the middle of your canvas, the time to learn will only be 10 minutes. Even if you are trying to draw in a picture style such as a cartoon, it doesn’t necessarily take longer to learn. Just be prepared to spend some time practicing.

A good rule of thumb is to spend one week practicing in order to get down in the basics, then you can start drawing at any time you want. As long as you are painting a certain way, you can draw almost anywhere in that style. The real question is how long is too long. You must understand, there is no such thing as a painting style which you are not learning to draw. You may see a style you like or have tried and thought “this will make me learn to draw” and realize you cannot draw it in the style you tried. You must get down in the fundamentals by practicing the style you like or are trying. When you start to get down, it can take another week or two until you know all there is to know about it. As long as it doesn’t feel like you’re getting worse, keep going.
If you don’t want to work on your drawing for one week, do what I do each time I get on the computer:
Draw a drawing, or at least write it down.
Check if it’s okay to use the same image every time you take a picture.
Draw as many times as you want (don’t limit yourself and do as many as you can, you will be frustrated when you can’t draw what you
