How long does it take to learn to draw? – Free Online Art Classes For Middle School

Do you have a background in painting or drawing?

I learned drawing at the same age as many young people did when they were just drawing all the time! I was doing that from a very early age and, as a child, I had all the time in the world to draw and paint. It does take a lot of time, but I’m glad I stopped doing that!

You are a very private person with regards to your work. Tell us something about yourself if this was not an opportune moment.

I try my best to keep my life relatively private. So many artists do, and I don’t feel the pressure, which is good. I don’t want anyone to worry about me when I’m not working. And, really, I don’t even need to be working. It all happens naturally and spontaneously! When you give it time you will probably be shocked at how well you do, but that’s not the point.

A lot of people will say ‘do what you like’, but I really like to draw and paint what inspires me! It’s like a family, really, and the only time I let myself down is when I’m not drawing. It’s also why it soothes me to be asked to draw stuff instead!

For those of us in the public eye are that what we are? Can you think of a time when you felt a sense of personal responsibility towards your work?

A lot of time! I was just 15 when I began to make drawings and my whole art school was in a real mess. No one could see what I was drawing or hear my voice. Then, when I was 16, I found someone who encouraged me and gave me some sort of support. I can’t remember what it was, but it was something like that, and it made me feel safe. And I still haven’t been able to do that! In my entire life I have only been able to draw when I was very, very, very brave!

You are quite prolific in terms of your books! Are you aware of the role this has played in the world of art?

Not really! It really depends on who you ask… I think there’s a strong tradition of the book that shows up in almost every museum and library around the world and I think, for me, it’s part of the story… I think the book is a very important part of my life and when I have the opportunity to get to read an unfinished book it
