I know that a lot of people don’t know this, but you have to start off by thinking about where you are going to get your palette and how it works. I would start with one brush and start playing with it, and try to figure out the basics of how to use that brush in this palette that you don’t usually see painted. That’s the first thing you have to start with, and then I would go back and try again with a different brush that might not do or might not work or whatnot. I think that’s the fundamental. After that I go do more paintings. Now, the problem is that some days might be easier or harder than others, but I know it’s gonna be easier later on. I don’t know how long it takes to learn a brush, but I’m gonna have a good time painting.
How do you see your style in relation to that of your fellow artists in particular?
I think I’m doing better than some of these other artists because I’m actually starting from the same place as they are. When I started off I was trying to work with different kinds of brushes, and I also had to change the way I had been painting and thinking and looking. I don’t really know how to compare myself to their skills because I’m not that good. I don’t know how to compare myself to everyone else, because when I think to do something I do it in a way that other people are used to doing and like how they paint. But I can also say that I’m trying to do it a little bit different than some people do, so I’m trying my best to do.
Is the inspiration for your work derived from your own experiences or any specific images?
The inspiration sometimes comes from when I see the way my mind works before my eyes, but most of the time just thinking is the key. It’s not just painting something because you can think about it as well. In a lot of cases I actually do a lot of thinking about it, and sometimes I’ll be like “Ah, I’d love to do that” and I don’t always know about it or I would know about it but I just need to put a thought into it first.
How much of your own personal style do you believe you’ve grown?
It’s been pretty stagnant. I mean, I think most people have a lot more style to them than maybe I do, but that’s a good thing. I get to do what I
