How do I find my art style? – Online Art Lessons Free For Kids

The first and hardest choice any of us will face when we open up our portfolios is finding our art style. In this process, we’re going to make a list of the key concepts in the art that will help guide us as we pick our next steps. Then we’ll be left to pick from among these ideas. We’ll get some pointers from our peers, and even from artists out there who share their work styles, as well as from the general artists who create the art that inspires us.

1. How do I make the most of my time?

For some, being able to devote a considerable amount of time and efforts to the art will be beneficial.

For others, it can be a hassle. If you’re looking for more inspiration to create your own work, you may have to find the time to attend a workshop or an art school. When you consider your time as a resource with some creativity, you might find yourself thinking about creative ways of incorporating your artwork further into your daily life.

You may also want to think about how to balance both the creative work and the time constraints of your lifestyle and schedule.

2. What is the artistic process?

What is the art process? As mentioned above, it’s quite hard to find an idea that fits perfectly into your current artistic vision.

A great example of this was a recent interview with artist Dan Guglielmi. Before he ever set foot in front of a screen, Guglielmi had been creating his own works of art for nearly three years. He’s been using various media — including canvas, watercolor, oil, and more — to make a living off of his art.

Guglielmi describes his process in a recent TEDx Talk:

…I am able to find ideas as I start up my sketches. I just do, and I know that I will create something and I am able to find out a way to get to it, to put myself in that role of creating a work and I create a piece, and so as I put in the idea for that piece, I realize what it is. Once I take that initial idea to a large scale of production, that is when a work will start to manifest itself and I will have an idea of what it is I am trying
