A lot of people tell me they want to learn from them when they can, but there are so many great painting sites out there, it’s hard to know where to start. If you’re in a rush, it would be great if others could answer these three questions for you: 1. What is the cost of learning? A free course will cost around a dollar a day, but as you’ll see, those are a lot of dollars. Some courses won’t cost much at all, while others often cost a bit more (a bit more than a dollar a day). Some courses are free, while others are very expensive and can cost around $150 a month. 2. Is there anything free? There are two free painting courses that you can take, that are in no particular order (the course above is by John Vinson). The Free Paintings from a Master Course on YouTube has over 1.6 million views. It has a free trial period so you can try it out if you’re at a time where painting is out of the question for you. There are also various classes and private lessons from John that will cost you a bit more. There is usually a cost associated by the private lessons, but I’ve seen students pay around $150, but they’re usually much better than the Free courses on YouTube so you may have to pay a bit less. 3. Can I learn on my own? I would only recommend getting a private lesson if you don’t have the time or the skills to do it yourself. The one thing that people never seem to get is that private lessons are not just for beginners. Some people choose to do private lessons because they simply can’t wait to be doing it themselves. I’ve seen people pay between $100 – $200 per hour. I’ve found that the cheaper the lesson, the better it gets. Private lessons are great for those that aren’t that interested in learning but want to get a feel for the techniques. Some people get all of their work done at home when they learn on their own. If you don’t have enough time at a time, and you find that you can’t concentrate on your painting for an hour, you can find a private lesson to try.
If you really aren’t interested in private lessons, and you still have some cash lying around, you can hire a professional to do them for you. Here’s a quick link to a list of pros you can hire; I’ve included their contact details below this section.
