Maybe, but we’re also looking at the same thing here. A 4k screen costs more than a 1080p screen, and you lose quality, as the 1080p screen was already optimized for gaming. On the other hand, it was already a high resolution, and you can do better if you spend less money and make up for it by increasing the image quality.
With that said, if you’re interested in a high quality 1080p display, it will be better to spend a few extra bucks, for the sake of getting up to 4k resolution.
A former National Security Agency contractor accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of government documents about the surveillance programs of the U.S. government was charged Tuesday with making false statements to federal investigators.
Lawyers for Edward Snowden, a 30-year-old contractor who leaked the documents to The Guardian and The Washington Post about the programs, said they hoped prosecutors could drop the case against him as the government and the Justice Department fight over whether the material is classified. It was the first time the government has pursued a case against Snowden, who has been living in limbo in Russia since leaving Hong Kong in 2013.
According to documents released by Snowden in April, the NSA was spying on foreign governments and American service members, collecting hundreds of millions of phone records a week. U.S. officials acknowledged that some of the phone calls were intercepted by the NSA, as were some emails intercepted by NSA analysts; the documents also disclosed that the NSA collects information from “nearly every form of electronic communication” in the United States.
The case against Snowden was a long time coming. U.S. officials said in 2012 that he had worked illegally for the U.S. government and had sought asylum in Russia. He later leaked the NSA documents to a number of news agencies and, along with a small cadre of other Americans including Daniel Ellsberg and Laura Poitras, became one of Washington’s leading sources of documents on the spying programs. The U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday it was pursuing no charges against Snowden.
“We feel as though the investigation is moving along as normally as you would expect in this kind of case, and, frankly, in any case,” said Snowden’s lawyer, Ben Wizner.
Wizner said Snowden believed he “acted in the country’s best interest.”
“He has done what a whistleblower does,” he said. “He acted in the country’s best interest with regard to his own liberty
